ONE OF THE PENALTIES OF REFUSING TO PARTICIPATE IN POLITICS: Is That You End Up Being Governed By Your Inferiors.

Image
A NATION IS NOT SAVED BY THE MAJORITY, BUT BY THE FEW WHO DECIDE TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. In 1985, IBB was the President of Nigeria, and students then were told that they were the leaders of tomorrow. Twenty-five years later, the same man said unequivocally in an interview with the BBC Hausa Service that the youths are not prepared to take political leadership in the country. This is the unfortunate mindset of the ‘Baby Boomers’ of Nigeria (those presently in their 60s and 70s), and it is what has informed the pattern of leadership succession in the ruling party, so much so that a 60-year old is the national youth leader of the party. But don’t they have the right to think this way? Why would this not be so, when the future of the youths has been mortgaged for personal gain; when their minds have been denied the advantages of instruction and enlightenment because of the wreckage, neglect and rape of the education sector for almost three decades? When their value system has bee...

TO ALL THE BIAFRA AGITATORS PLEASE NOTE: Nigerians cannot afford to go through another civil war

Image
To all my Brothers out there Agitating for Biafra, i want to urge you  to visit the National War Museum Umuahia, Abia State so you can learn more about the civil war if your parents have not really told the whole story. Over a million innocent citizens mostly children, were killed because  their leader made them embark on a journey of no return. Visit National War Museum and see for selves pictures of dying biafra children, weapons used during the war and pictures of innocent emaciated children who died of kwashiokor. My question is simple; What if Ojukwu had listened to  advice and decided not to start the war? what if Gen Gowon had acted on the allegations  of the pogrom initiated by Ndigbo? TO all Biafra agitators please; Note that Nigerians cannot afford to go through another civil war, for it was a very bad experience thanks to those who lived to tell the story.... The holy book tells us that though we thread upon snakes and scorpions ...

The world has abandoned South Sudanese refugees

Image
Despite receiving only limited funds from international organisations, Uganda has given a warm welcome to refugees. At just 37 years of age, Joyce has seen it all. She's stared into the abyss of human cruelty and lived to tell the story. In September 2016, soldiers stormed her home in Kajo Keji, South Sudan, which she shared with her husband and their children. They tied her husband's arms behind his back and stabbed him multiple times until he lay dead. A single mother with nine children to feed, Joyce decided to run away - to escape the violence in her native land. So she joined the hundreds of thousands of South Sudanese people fleeing southwards to Uganda. But although the trek to Uganda by foot has reduced her risk of being shot dead or raped by soldiers or rebels, her life is still a painful daily struggle. She still lacks basic supplies, including food, water or shelter. And she's not alone, thousands upon thousands of South Sudanese refugees in U...

Is Nigeria on the brink of another civil war?

Image
On the 50th anniversary of its bloody civil war, Nigeria is struggling to prevent another. On August 1, 1966, after the collapse of last-ditch attempts by Nigeria's power brokers to prevent the impending civil war, Lieutenant Colonel Odumegwu Ojukwu said only one thing would make the rebels cease fire: "that the Republic of Nigeria be split into its component parts; and all southerners in the North be repatriated to the South and that Northerners resident in the South be repatriated to the North". On May 30, 1967, Oxford-educated Ojukwu declared Biafra an independent state in the southeast of the country. On July 6, 1967, civil war broke out in Nigeria, which claimed more than a million lives in just three years. Fast-forward to June 2017. Irked by renewed secessionist calls from the same Igbo ethnic group, a coalition of northern groups issued a notice, demanding "all Igbo currently residing in any part of Northern Nigeria to relocate within three mo...

ALLEGED N10M FRAUD: EFCC arraigns former Enugu Chief Judge

Image
Enugu State former Chief Judge, Innocent Umezuluike, was on Friday arraigned before Enugu High Court over alleged reception of N10 million in donations from a litigant in a pending and concluded civil matter he presided over. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned him before Justice Anthony Onovo on a one-count charge of using his office to confer corrupt and unfair advantage. The N10 million donations, EFCC said was made by Arthur Eze, the Chief Executive Officer of Oranto Petroleum Ltd in February 2014 at the launch of Mr. Umezuluike’s book titled, ‘ABC of Contemporary Land Law in Nigeria’. According to the EFCC, the said money was drawn from the account of Oranto Petroleum Ltd and paid into Mr. Umezuluike’s Zenith Bank Account. Arguing the matter in court, EFCC lawyer, Wahab Shittu, said that the action is contrary to Section 19 of the Independent and Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act (Laws of the Federation) 2000. Umezuluike pleade...

Politics We won’t blame Arewa youths, most of them illiterates, charlatans – MASSOB

Image
MASSOB was responding to a letter by the northern youths to the UN asking the international body to brand the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) a terrorist group. The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has said that it was not going to blame northern youths for writing United Nations as it described many of them as “illiterates” and “charlatans” who cannot differentiate between terrorism and self-determination. MASSOB was responding to a letter by the northern youths to the UN asking the international body to brand the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) a terrorist group. MASSOB, who reacted in a statement by its national director of information, Comrade Edeson Samuel, further said that the letter by the Arewa youths is nothing it should concern itself with as it was made by confused and directionless people. The statement read in part, “MASSOB under the leadership of Mazi Uchenna Madu has condemned the utterances from Arewa youths aga...

Jihad has been launched in Nigeria, Danjuma, Christian leaders cry out

Image
National Christian Elders Forum (NCEF), an association made up of retired military generals and other Christian elders on Thursday made alarming revelation, alleging that the real problem Nigeria presently faces is the launch of Jihad in the country. “The real problem with the country is that Jihad has been launched in Nigeria and Islamists that have been interfering in the governance of the country using ‘Taqiyya’ (approved deception) as ‘Stealth/Civilisation Jihad’ and Boko Haram and Fulani herdsmen as violent Jihad, are relentless in their pursuit of eradicating democracy in Nigeria,” the group stated. NCEF made this claim following a meeting on Thursday in Abuja where it appraised unfolding events in the country. In attendance at the meeting were General Theophilus Danjuma (retd.), Elder Solomon Asemota, Gen. Joshua Dogonyaro (retd.), Gen. Zamani Lekwot (retd.), Elder Moses Ihonde, Elder Shyngle Wigwe, and Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, among others. According to NCEF, Nigeri...
