Delta State Secretariat, DBS, Fine Homes, SUBEB Submerged As Files, Records, Properties Worth Millions Of Naira Destroyed

Delta State Secretariat, Delta Broadcasting Service, (DBS), former legislative quarters (Fine Homes), State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Okpanam, SSS Roads and others were all submerged by over three hours heavy down pour in Asaba.

The Saturday down pour which started at about 6:00 am unleashed havoc on the entire state capital and its environs, damaging properties worth millions of naira.

At the state secretariat, officials files, documents and other valuables belonging to Establishment, Post Primary Education Board, (PPEB), Fire Service, Ministry of Information, Delta State Rural Development Agency and other offices were completely destroyed and floating on water.

Cross section of residents who spoke with our correspondent blamed the flood on the “I don’t care” attitude of governor Ifeanyi Okowa who they alleged of of awarding juice contracts to himself, family members and cronies and folds his arm while the people die and ravaged by flood.

They accused Okowa of looting the state treasury without any effort to tackle the flooding in the state capital.
